The host sits down with TED speakers for the extended conversation their stage time couldn't accommodate. The ideas behind the ideas live here, and that second layer is usually where the genuinely interesting stuff hides. Not every episode reaches the same heights, but when it clicks, you get the kind of intellectual depth that TED's main stage format can only hint at.
