Dragon Talk - An Official Dungeons & Dragons Podcast

Dragon Talk is the official Wizards of the Coast podcast, and it has been running in one form or another since 2008, which makes it practically ancient in podcast years. Hosts Shelly Mazzanoble and Greg Tito sit down with designers, actors, authors, and players from across the tabletop community. Guests have included Matt Mercer, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Manganiello, and basically every current and former D&D lead designer you can think of. The interviews go deeper than publicity fluff. Tito knows the game history cold, and Mazzanoble has a knack for pulling personal stories out of guests who have done a hundred other press rounds that week. There are recurring segments like Lore You Should Know, which walks through Forgotten Realms history, and Sage Advice, where Jeremy Crawford fields rules questions. When a new book comes out, the designers come on to talk through their thinking, which is genuinely useful if you are trying to figure out why a monster was statted a particular way. The production is clean and the pacing is brisk. You will not get unfiltered hot takes about Wizards, obviously, but you will get the closest thing to an insider look at how the biggest tabletop RPG actually gets made. Essential listening if you care about the design side.
